Microsoft discontinuing Skype Text

Recently I heard that Microsoft was discontinuing Skype.  I was at first surprised because Microsoft spent over six billion dollars over 15 years ago to acquire the messaging app.  The purpose of that purchase was to add communication to what we know today as Microsoft Team.  After doing some digging and playing with Microsoft Team for the first time, I saw they added an upgraded version of Skype to be incorporated within their system.  This means no longer have to leave Team and go over to Skype.  This can be all done in house now.  As a blind person, I’ll tell you that Skype is absolute garbage since they made some big software updates that screwed up the flow of using the screen reader.  Very finicky, and so much so, I stopped using it altogether.  After having played with Team, I found their messaging system to be a lot smoother and more intuitive and friendly for blind people using screen readers.  This makes sense now why Microsoft is discontinuing Skype in May of 2025  It’s good for everyone to know that you can sign into Team with your Skype credentials and all of your contact information will automatically transfer over, but you must do this before they shut down the platform.  If you want the history to transfer over, you’ll have to export that over.  That’s something I’m not going to mess with so I don’t have any editorial explaining how blind people can transfer the data over using keystrokes.
